Edited for lack of tolerable grammar -_-
Now that the initial rush of starting this blog has passed, i wanted to put my feet up and do a write up on what kind of deliveries there are for the project.
The project itself is a mixed bag of art direction and user testing/usability design, i.e how the game fares in terms of readability, user friendliness, consistency (both in art, gameplay and interfaces) - so thats a fair amount of work ahead of me.
The first 2 weeks have gone by with doodling, and noodling around with the story, which im not yet really that into - im no story genius, and im not out to reinvent the wheel either :).
So on to the deliveriables, with a focus on mainly art direction i have the following to finish.
A concept phase, that encompasses -
- Story line (text)
- Head events/actions (text)
- Concept sketches (in my case i'd do sketches, then more detailed pieces once i'm comfortable with the direction)
- Head screens (basically mocked up "screenshots" of the game, these could be concepted or made in 3d, whichever).
- Story board (here's its a little iffy, because these are meant as head screens too :S).
- Navigation and Interface concept (know the latter, though im puzzled...no pun intended, on the first).
Development phase
- Character sheets
- Environment and props (i'm assuming this should be 3d if one is doing a game with a 3d world...i suppose).
- Colour schemes/light design (at a loss on this one, i know color schemes are easy, but what is light design?).
Prototype
- Paper prototype (noooooo!)
- Interactive vertical slice (crap, and i can't program for sh*t)
- An expert inspection of the vertical slice, with focus on functionality/litteracy (your guess is as good as mine).
So all in all i've got a fair bit of work to do.
Oh and can't post without some art, so here's that sketch im working on at the moment, head screens...yay!
Oh please keep checking back for more updates, i'll see to it that a facebook site will be put up once i move into a more certain stage of concepting (need to redo the logo into an awesome-sauce one! and style this place up!)
