This is fairly close to what i imagine my final moodboard/inspiration board looks like.
This one though doesn't contain the inspiration behind all the characters, but pixar and disney like characters, proportions and expressiveness is what i want to try and achieve.
This doesn't by any means factor into the game's target audience, even though i'm trying hard to balance too cute vs. too mature.
Cartoony death are here unavoidable, in TF2 they're comical and often bring even more style into the instead of just popping blood splatters when hit, and ragdolling at death, some characters explode on a grenade impact - resulting in a bloody, but comical mess of organs and limbs.
Preferably the game would be playable from ages 12-13 to anywhere from 18 up to any age practically, i think its the style that should appeal and connect to a broad audience.
Obviously gameplay should hook you just as fast as the style, but each without the other could be fatal for any title of course.
Thats why it wouldn't make sense either to make gameplay that incredible realistic when the style doesn't reflect this, or vice versa.
The moodboard is only meant as inspiration mainly for the introduction level, each planet should preferably feature and different theme, and color scheme.
