Though no post is complete without pictures, or thats what my mom always said...sort of.
This kinda illustrates perfectly my first 2 weeks of this project...laying down incredible amounts of scribbles, notes and brainfarts - which all should turn into a somewhat cohesive visual and gameplay intense experience (or fail miserably).
Some of the pages are pure brainstorming, me trying to connect the dots - even though im only supposed to present a vertical slice, i really prefer to establish a whole universe thats connected.
At the start of the project, i was pretty sure that i wanted to do just a pure sidescroller, with action and puzzles, and yet i needed to tie these aspects into a character that the player would be able to control on the ipad...lo and behold this obviously led me into a nightmare of trying to come up with mock control schemes.
Fortunately i've worked around this problem by splitting up the core gameplay mechanics into the 2 characters you play.
Before, Isolde for example was a mere plot helper, but i had thought about bringing her in as the "rock, paper, scissors"solution, but that idea soon seemed too familiar.
Instead i thought it might be unique to give her just as much of an impact on the game as Tristan has, they both exist in the world - but the player can only control one or the other.
To be continued...
