I've uploaded another video on youtube that shows off the main prototype map - here i'll be testing a 3 puzzle setup, this will hopefully turn into the gameplay demo that i will need you guys and gals out there to test.
Right now i'm a bit behind schedule, because lo and behold im not a programming genius so things take time for me...too much time :(
I have to be careful about not getting into the details of every little thing, but i've got a hacked camera where i kinda need it to be...its not by any means anywhere near what i'd like it to be, but it'll work for the presentation of the game.
Next up i've got my hands full trying to get mouse dragging to work through playmaker - which is turning into a complete disaster - i've gotten this down so far 'Click to select>if click hits a useable rigidbody+hold down mouse button>Allow mouse to drag' - this is all fine and dandy until you throw physics into the mix!
My problem here is unfortunately that there is no help on the playmaker forums so i have to resort to hacked together solutions....which i hope won't be noticed at the time that you guys get the demo (DO expect a very rough prototype).
After i'm done with interaction i'll have to figure out how i mix the 2 controllers (characters) - i'd very much like to disable the character controller when X key is pressed (X not being the actual key yet) and swap to the crystal, allowing now the player to use the mouse to drag objects.
I made a short bullet list of what kind of tasks that are left to do (for this map) - the overall map i've shown in the previous video would have all these things combined into one.
- Unity Prototype To-Do list
- Script door puzzle (pull chain on other side of the door to open while standing on pressure platform, not standing on it will cancel out 'pull chain').
- Allow crystal to hover and follow the player character.
- Add a left and right switching camera, meaning the player will always appear on 2/3rds point on the screen, when facing either left or right.
- Pressure plate and box interaction, placing a box via drag on a pressure plate will activate it.
- Killzones - these reset the player to spawn points, when they've been passed.
- Spawn points, record the last player position in memory - once the player passes a new one the old record is overwritten.
And there's a bunch of art stuff too coming, i just need to get this demo done so i can concentrate on the finer things :D - Please stay tuned, and thank you for reading my ramblings :).
