Late last night my internet struck out, so i was kinda marooned with this update :(.
Its finally back though and here's some more progress shots - im still trying to figure out how i can export out the vertex colors, maya seemingly hates me at this point and the export/import buttons are greyed out (time to try it in ver. 2010).
Everything is coming togehter nicely now :D
